Bio

Tom is responsible for the Board Advisory services of The Bowdoin Group.  Prior to Bowdoin, Tom was the Managing Partner of Perspective Group, a firm specializing in biopharmaceutical board and executive search. Leveraging more than 25 years of executive search and operating experience within the life sciences industry, Tom advises companies across the healthcare continuum, including biopharmaceutical, diagnostics/tools and digital health entities. 

Before founding Perspective, Tom spent fifteen years at two leading executive search firms. Most recently Tom led Spencer Stuart’s efforts in life sciences board of director recruitment and advisory services. Prior to that, at Russell Reynolds, he was co-leader of the global healthcare practice and previously, he led the firm’s biopharmaceuticals practice in the Americas. Prior to entering the executive search industry, Tom served as CFO of various private and public healthcare companies.  Tom began his career as an investment banker in mergers and acquisitions.

Tom currently serves as the Chair of Standard BioTools (NASDAQ:LAB), a proteomics tools company,  and formerly served on the Board of Exact Sciences Corporation (NASDAQ: EXAS), a publicly traded cancer diagnostics company and as the Chair of Vital Bioscience, a venture capital backed point-of-care diagnostics company. Tom received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the College of the Holy Cross and his MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
